Fall Door Hanger Season 2026: Order-By Dates, Quantities, and the Blank Checklist

Every August, the same message lands in our inbox: "Do you have 18-inch rounds in stock? I need them yesterday." And every August, the sellers who ordered in July are already painting while everyone else is refreshing tracking pages.

We cut wood rounds for a living here in Statesboro, Georgia, so we see the whole season from the sawdust side. Here's the calendar and the quantities that separate the sellers who sell out from the ones who scramble.

The math runs backwards from your market date

Fall markets and porch-decor buying peak from mid-September through October. Work backwards from your first selling date:

• Selling October 4? Your pieces need to be finished by about September 20.
• Painting takes most sellers 4–5 weeks for a full fall line (nights and weekends are real).
• That makes your order-by date roughly August 15 — and earlier is cheaper stress.

Craft sellers who move real volume order blanks 6–10 weeks before the consumer holiday. That's not a supplier trick to get you to buy early — it's just how paint dries.

What a two-market fall season actually takes

Based on what our repeat customers (door-hanger painters and sign makers across the USA) order every fall:

• Door hangers: 10–12 premium 18" rounds in true 1/2" for your statement pieces, plus 20–24 18" rounds in 1/4" for volume sellers.
• Porch signs: 6–8 18×12" rectangles or arch plaques.
• Tiered trays: 8 or so 12" rounds and a dozen small shapes.
• Fall shapes: pumpkins move first — the birch pumpkin 12-pack and 18" MDF pumpkins both sell out before Halloween every year.
• The pro move: order 10% extra. Every seller ruins a blank or two, and reordering mid-season costs you a week you don't have.

Why thickness decides your reviews

The most common one-star review in the door-hanger world isn't about paint — it's "it warped on my door." Thin big-box plywood cups and twists.
